GlobalSense
GlobalSense is an international research project exploring how teacher education can better prepare future educators for global citizenship. Through cross-border collaborations, the study examines how pre-service teachers engage with diversity, international encounters, and the relationship between global and local dimensions of citizenship.
GlobalSense is a three-year international collaboration supported by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Key Action 2 Programme Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education. Bringing together five universities and multiple associated partners, this project investigates how teacher education can more effectively equip future educators to engage with global citizenship education.
Through online interactions, the study examines how pre-service teachers from France, Belgium, Germany, Israel, and the U.S.A. navigate concepts of diversity, international engagement, and the intersection of global and local citizenship. By fostering cross-border discussions, the project highlights how emerging educators conceptualize global citizenship and the challenges and opportunities it presents.
Ultimately, GlobalSense underscores the need for teacher education programs to integrate hands-on, authentic global interactions as a central part of their pedagogy, ensuring that educators are prepared to teach in increasingly interconnected and diverse learning environments.
